DJ 30 80 plays songs from some outer space

So, what the hell does he mean by “songs from some outer space”?

The phrase “from some outer space” came from a weird tale I was reading by Algernon Blackwood called The WIllows.

Essentially these are songs I have heard when out and about and have thought “ooh, I like that, what is it?” There’s nothing particularly fancy or esoteric about it, I just like the phrase that describes the idea.

These days with technology like Shazam to do all the hard work for you , it is really easy to capture these transient beings as they tickle your ears, providing you get your phone out in time. If that the case, you are in the same position as years ago when you had to listen out for the song to be played on the radio again or, worse case scenario, try to remember the tune and gosing it to the generally bewildered counter staff in your local record shop.

I had been “collecting” these random disparate songs on a private playlist on Spotify until my friend Liz commented that she was bored with the music collection in her car and that it had been AGES since I had made her a CD compilation, hint hint. So I first took this rather long playlist and edited it down to make a double CD for her.

Then, I was a bit stuck for a theme for my next slot over on The Thursday Night Show and decided I would edit the playlist down further for my next show. Simple.

You can listen to DJ 30 80 pay songs from some outer space via Rewind over on the Thursday Night Show website. You can also hear the tracks via Spotify
