What’s the collective noun for DJs?

Around the middle of March this year, as the UK was going into (rather late in my opinion) lockdown with pubs, music venues, cinemas and theatres closed because of the danger posed by Coronavirus or Covid 19, online alternatives sprang up, almost over night.

I had been asked by some Club 30-80 regulars if I might consider taking the dancing party online and at roughly the same time, I was asked by a friend who had another mutual friend’s (real life) 50th birthday party if I could DJ her 55th online.

I had “attended” a couple of these online parties and had a rough idea of how to put them together, what kind of setup I might need and some of the general do’s and don’ts but I needed some help with some of the logistics which I couldn’t work out By myself. I befriended those nice people over at The Thursday Night Show (TNS) via DJ Ian Joliet (of the Social Distancing Dance Party) to pick their brains. The group is based in Brighton and consists of DJs, VJs and techies (oh my!) who run TTNS as a kind of collective. One of the techies involved (and DJ in his own right), Dom Robinson (AKA Voice of Doom) was particularly helpful in a webinar he gave which helped me troubleshoot my setup. It’s with many thanks to him that I have been able to set up our Stay Home Specials as robustly as possible with hardly any cock ups or traumas along the way!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the help.

I am hoping to eventually have a go at hosting something on their platform too.
