Sometimes it can be hard being a NonJUdgementalDJ! especially when people ask “why didn’t you play my request?”
Well, here we go, there are some times when I literally can’t “play the music you want to hear”. This is largely because of two reasons…
1, I didn’t play your request because I don’t have it.
I’m not using Spotify or any other online music site so I am limited to what I have in my collection. Needless to say, My music collection is purposely large and spans several decades and multiple genres and styles of music but sometimes, I just don’t have it.
2, I didn’t play your request because I ran out of time.
We at Club 30-80 are ruled the same as by most things in life, by time. There is only a finite amount of time available to do most things and what generally happens while I am DJing at Club 30-80 is that, as the evening moves on, that I get an increasing amount of requests. Sometimes, from as early as 8 o’clock, I know I am not going to have enough time to play everything. At that point I have to make some difficult decisions as to what gets played and what gets culled.
If I have had multiple requests for the same track, then it is more likely to get played, providing it’s not too long of course!
